Mongolia is a country in central Asia with lots of good sites for dinosaurs that lived in the Late Cretaceous. Most of the fossils are found in the Gobi desert in the south of the country.
There are three formations in Mongolia which have Cretaceous dinosaurs in them: the Nemegt Formation, the Barun Goyot Formation and the Djadokhta Formation which date from 80 to 70 million years ago.
The most famous fossil site is the Flaming Cliffs. It is here where palaeontologists found Velociraptor fossils, made famous by the Jurassic Park movies.
